Portable Diagnostics

Rapid, low-cost and deployable diagnostics for point-of-care and decentralized healthcare.

The Portable Diagnostics research program at AMEL focuses on the development of rapid, low-cost, and deployable diagnostic technologies for point-of-care and decentralized healthcare applications. Our work combines biomedical instrumentation, embedded systems, sensing technologies, microfluidics, and intelligent diagnostics to develop compact healthcare solutions capable of delivering fast and reliable medical testing outside conventional laboratory environments.

The laboratory works on portable molecular diagnostic systems, fluorescence-based detection technologies, biosensing platforms, and integrated healthcare instrumentation designed for resource-limited and real-world healthcare settings. Our research emphasizes practical healthcare technologies that improve accessibility, portability, and diagnostic efficiency.
